When the root is doubled in the first chord, the upper three voices move in
contrary motion to the bass. When the bass moves up by step, the upper voices
move down to the next chord tone. When the bass moves down by step, the upper
voices move up to the next chord tone. See p. 97 for more information
especially about the V-vi progression.
