For your Final Projects, complete Option A and either Option B or C or D. Choose a project based on the area of music technology you would like to further explore.
These projects and all other assigned work must be submitted by 4 pm on December 19. Note: our final session will be held Tuesday, December 17 at 1:50 pm.
Complete one of the Activities or Suggested Activities found throughout our textbook or in one of the Appendices. More on this option in class.
Complete a sequencing project of at least 24 to 32 measures in Sonar or GarageBand with a minimum of 4 tracks and timbres. Parts should be input in real-time or, if done in Sonar, step-record (not Notation view) and each track should include appropriate volume and pan settings. You can also include audio loops and/or recordings in your project.
The choice of music is yours. If you don't have a specific choice, you should sequence The Star Spangled Banner or God Bless America.
If done in Sonar, when your sequence is complete submit via email two versions (files) of your project -- a Sonar version and a Standard MIDI version. If done in GarageBand, submit via email two versions of your project - an Archive Project version and an mp3 version. (Talk to JM about how to save an Archive Project.)
Complete a final notation project of at least 24 to 32 measures in Finale with 4 or more instruments and staves. One transposing instrument is required.
Your score should include more than just the notes, i.e. appropriate dynamics marks, phrase marks, slurs, etc. must be included.
The choice of music is yours. If you don't have a specific choice, you can arrange a Bach Fugue for a quartet of your choice.
On completion, you must submit the file for the score via email, and the full printed score and the first page of each part in the lab.
Talk to JM about the requirements of this option. There are a few possibilities from which to choose. Think of this option as an extended version of the soundtrack or ringtone project. More in class.
