日本の夏、2008
Summer in Japan, 2008

My last memory of working steam locomotive goes back 40 years.  There are a few places in Japan currently own and operate steam locomotives for tourism.  One close to Tokyo is a train called SL Minakami, operating only for summer months from Ueno station to Minakami, one of more famous spas in Gunma Prefecture.  However, the steam locomotive pulls passenger train from Takasaki station on.  I suppose steam locomotive pollute too much in Tokyo, and to keep CO2 and SO2 out of the Tokyo air.  Below, I posted some pictures as well as a video that I shout this summer.  In the video, right before the SL shows up in the field of view, it blew the horn.  Very nostalgic!  Enjoy.
